John Castonia
Director / Producer

A Biography

John J. Castonia President/Owner of J. Cast Productions, is a Theatrical Producer and Personal Manager for performing artists, touring acts throughout the United States and Europe. Going from actor to technician to director, John produced and directed his first musical comedy in 1979 Every Which Way But, Right! and recently directed touring productions of It’s A Motown Christmas, Driving Miss Daisy, Love Letters along with Vanities starring Two-time Emmy Award Winner Heather Tom, Sonia Satra, Allison McDonell along with additonal actors Ashley Jones, Rachelle Lefevre, and Stacy Keanan.

Originally from Michigan, he holds a Theatre/Facility Management Degree from Western Michigan University where he worked for Miller Auditorium, one of the top ten facilities in the country at the time. John later held the position of Business Manager/Fine Arts Agency at Stanford University, and went on to become a Company Manager for Columbia Artists Management, Inc. in New York City.

J. Cast Productions was established in 1988 and has since produced such hits as the World Premiere of the americanized version of London's longest running comedy Run For Your Wife! with Linda Blair, Murray Langston and Pat Paulsen, Wally's Cafe with Ruth Buzzi and Pat Paulsen, Shirley Valentine with Loretta Swit, Love Letters with Shirley Jones and Marty Ingels and Anthony Franciosa and Loretta Swit, It’s A Motown Christmas! with Lala Brooks, Behind The Mask, An Evening With Paul Laurence Dunbar with Ted Lange, Confessions Of A Texan S.O.B.! /An Evening With Larry Hagman, Janet Carroll - Chanteuse Extraordinaire, Soupy Sales Video Vault, Confessions of a Prairie Bitch! with Alison Arngrim, DanceTime, Blonde and Blues with Susan Anton Last Comic Still Barely Standing! starring Jerry Van Dyke, Driving Miss Daisy with Antonio Fargas, Charlotte Rae and many concert dates for various artists.

John has worked with such well-known artists and groups as Sir Neville Mariner and The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Kurt Muzur and The Gewandhaus Orchestra, Daniel Barenboim and Orchestre De Paris, Eliahu Inbal and Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Jessye Norman, Carol Kane, Patti Davis, Charlene Tilton, Henry LeTang, Timothy Bottoms, Thelma Houston, Jack Jones, The Amazing Kreskin, Liliane Montevecchi, The Smothers Brothers, Dan Menendez, The Association, Lauren Tewes, Phyllis Diller, Fred Travalena, Jeff Trachta, Gloria Loring, Deborah Gibson, Mason Williams, Jacob Young, and many others.
